in Belgium. In 2007, Bekaert reached a combined sales level
of € 3.4 billion in 120 countries and employed over 22 000
people. Bekaert seeks sustainable profitable growth based
on its two core competences: advanced metal transformation
and advanced materials and coatings. Bekaert has a worldwide
leading position in the development, production and sales
of steel wire products, steel cord products, and advanced
materials and coatings. Bekaert is pursuing this leadership
position through an increased global presence, operational
excellence in its production platforms, continuous process
and product innovation, and business and technological partnerships.
Bekaert starts its business, more than 128 years ago and since
the early nineties in China. Bekaert was one of the first
and are now the most important Belgian investing company to
believe in China¡¯s status as a world player. Bekaert has experienced
significant growth in China in the recent years, in almost
all of its business platforms and in particular in its steel
cord products for tire reinforcement. Today, till the end
of Year 2007, with more than RMB 4.5 billion invested, Bekaert
China is one of the most important foreign investors in China,
where it has 15 joint ventures or wholly owned companies,
including R&D center, trading company and the Asia Regional
Headquarter. Now, over 6,500 people in China are working for
Bekaert.
